The main change in Bill SR 6 is that it has now formally urged the Alaska division of motor vehicles to advocate for ending the use of social security numbers as a means of identity verification. This is important because the use of social security numbers poses risks to privacy and can lead to identity theft, as these numbers can be more easily compromised. By pushing for alternative methods of verification, the bill aims to better protect the personal information of Alaskans.
