The recent changes to the bill clarify the District's authority to repair private roads and alleys specifically for vehicles owned or operated by the District government. By streamlining the language and removing unnecessary conditions, the bill now positions the Mayor as having clear power to take action when these private rights-of-way need repairs. This matters because it could lead to more efficient maintenance of roadways, improving access for public services and enhancing overall public safety.
