Plain-language change summary

The changes to SB 2289 involve updating the scope of who can access domestic violence protection order records. Previously, the bill specified that only sheriff's offices could request these records, but the revised version expands access to all law enforcement officers. This matters because it allows a broader range of officers to obtain crucial information that can assist them in responding to incidents of domestic violence, potentially improving safety and response effectiveness.
