The recent amendments to SB 2227 clarify the enrollment process for employees in the public employees retirement system in North Dakota. The changes ensure that all eligible employees of participating political subdivisions must enroll in the retirement plan within their first month of employment. Additionally, if an employee misses their enrollment during their eligibility period, they will be required to enroll immediately upon being notified of their eligibility unless they choose to waive this right. This matters because it aims to simplify the enrollment process and ensure that more employees benefit from retirement savings opportunities without unnecessary delays.
