The recent amendments to the Day Care Policy Act of 1979 clarify the definitions related to child development facilities and the qualifications for early childhood educators. Specifically, the term for child development homes has been expanded to include both types of homes, and the definition of what constitutes a recognized caregiver credential has been updated for clarity. These changes matter because they aim to ensure better pay standards for teachers by qualifying more educators to meet the necessary requirements, ultimately supporting early childhood education in the district.
