The recent amendment to Bill B25-1048 allows certain retail establishments in D.C. to refuse cash payments, provided they display a clear notice to customers. The change clarifies that this applies specifically to establishments with an on-premises Class C or Class D retail license and includes restaurants that operate late. This modification is significant because it aims to enhance safety for employees in environments that may experience higher risks during late hours, while still ensuring customers are informed about payment policies.
