Plain-language change summary

The updated version of Bill SB 184 now allows the Alabama Department of Corrections to use funds not only for the recruitment and training of law enforcement officers but also for a broader range of purposes. These include public education, rehabilitation and reintegration programs for offenders, and other initiatives that support the department’s overall mission. This change is important because it gives the department more flexibility to address various needs within the correctional system, potentially leading to more effective operations and better outcomes for both staff and inmates.
