Plain-language change summary

The latest version of Bill SB 113 introduces some key changes related to visitation policies at health care facilities. Most notably, it clarifies the rights of patients to have visitors, including the ability to designate an essential caregiver who has guaranteed visitation rights. It also prevents facilities from enforcing stricter visitation rules than those applicable to employees and ensures that patients cannot be required to show proof of vaccination to receive visitors. These changes matter because they enhance patients' rights to connect with loved ones, particularly during critical times, and promote more humane visitation practices in health care settings.
