Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to SB 56 add specific definitions and clarify the types of classrooms affected by the bill. It now clearly defines a "self-contained classroom" as one where at least half of the students receive special education services, including related areas like calm down and sensory rooms. This change is important because it helps ensure that the safety measures, such as video recordings, apply to the appropriate educational settings where special needs students are taught.
