The updated version of the bill, HB 469, clearly adds specific provisions about the collection and handling of the new 15 percent sales tax on medical cannabis products in Cullman County. This amendment outlines that the tax will take effect two months after it is ratified and refers to existing state tax laws for the management of this new tax. This clarity is important because it ensures that there is a well-defined process in place for how the tax will be implemented and collected, which can help avoid confusion for both consumers and retailers.
