Under existing law, the Shelby County Board of Registrars may meet a maximum of 167 working days each fiscal year.
This bill would increase the number of working days that the Shelby County Board of Registrars may meet to a maximum of 220 working days each year.
A BILL TO BE ENACTED AN ACT To amend Section 17-3-8, Code of Alabama 1975, as last amended by Act 2022-112 of the 2022 Regular Session, relating to meeting days of boards of registrars;
"§17-3-8 (a) Each member of the board of registrars in the Counties of Clay, Cleburne, Coosa, Dallas, Escambia, Geneva, Lowndes, Perry, Sumter, and Wilcox may meet a maximum of 120 Page 1 HB220 INTRODUCED working days each fiscal year;
each member of the board of registrars in the Counties of Coffee, Shelby, Talladega, and Tallapoosa may meet a maximum of 220 working days each fiscal year, except that in Talladega County the board of registrars may meet up to an additional 30 Page 1 HB220 Enrolled session days each fiscal year, at the discretion of the chair of the county commission;
Each member of the Board of Registrars Page 2 HB220 INTRODUCED of Walker County may meet a maximum of 200 days each fiscal year, and each member of the Board of Registrars of Lamar, Cherokee, Clarke, Conecuh, Crenshaw, Hale, and Washington Counties may meet a maximum of 140 days each fiscal year.
