Plain-language change summary

The updated bill, HB 119, now includes a specific amendment to the Constitution of Alabama that prevents elected officials and sheriffs in Shelby County from taking on additional supernumerary roles after the amendment goes into effect. It allows individuals already eligible for the supernumerary program to continue participating as before. This change is important because it clarifies the rules regarding supernumerary positions, potentially impacting job security and retirement benefits for county officials by ensuring no new supernumerary positions can be created while upholding existing rights for those already in the program.
