The bill, now called the Tyrell Spencer Act, has been updated to include specific training requirements for coaches on how to handle sudden cardiac arrest situations. It mandates that this training must align with existing CPR and AED training protocols and be approved by the State Board of Education. Additionally, it emphasizes the importance of student athletes and their parents acknowledging receipt of information about sudden cardiac arrest. These changes are significant as they aim to better protect student athletes by ensuring coaches are well-prepared and informed about sudden cardiac emergencies.
