The updated version of the bill, SB 281, clarifies terms and strengthens the language around the protection of firearm transactions. Specifically, it now includes a definition for "ASSIGN or ASSIGNMENT," which explicitly describes how financial institutions might categorize transactions related to firearms. This change is significant because it aims to prevent potential discrimination against firearm retailers during payment processing, ensuring that such transactions are treated fairly.
