What changed in the latest version

The updated version of SB 210 specifies that Alabama will have the power to share jurisdiction with the federal government for crimes committed by children on military bases, but only if certain conditions are met. These include a waiver of exclusive jurisdiction by federal authorities and that the offense also qualifies as a state crime. This change is significant because it clarifies the criteria under which both state and federal legal systems can act, ensuring that juvenile offenses on military installations are addressed properly.
