The recent amendment to Bill SB 177 increases the payment limits for directors of municipal gas districts. Previously, directors could receive up to $1,000 per meeting, while the chair could earn up to $1,250. The new fees have been raised to $1,750 for directors and $2,000 for the chair. This change matters as it may help attract qualified individuals to serve on the board, ensuring better oversight and management of gas services in the municipalities.

The members, at the discretion of the board, are authorized to be paid a director's fee of one thousand dollars ($1,000) per meeting attended, not to exceed one meeting per month, and the chair is authorized to be paid a director's fee not to exceed one thousand two hundred fifty dollars ($1,250) per meeting.
This bill would increase the fee authorized to be paid to a director to one thousand seven hundred fifty dollars ($1,750) per meeting and the fee authorized to be paid to the chair to two thousand dollars ($2,000) per meeting.
