In the updated version of SB 104, a key change is the specification that claims alleging ovarian cancer are not included under the definition of "asbestos actions." This matters because it clarifies the scope of lawsuits related to asbestos exposure, potentially impacting the types of claims that can be pursued in court. Additionally, the amendment allows defendants in asbestos cases to be dismissed if certain requirements are not met, which could streamline the legal process and reduce unnecessary litigation for defendants.
