The recent amendments to Bill SB 88 increase the membership of the Alabama Firefighters' Personnel Standards and Education Commission from seven to nine members. This change aims to improve representation by allowing additional stakeholders—specifically the Professional Firefighters Association of Alabama and the Alabama Firefighter's Association—to have a voice on the commission. By expanding the commission, it’s hoped that diverse perspectives will enhance decision-making in firefighter standards and education in Alabama.
