The latest version of SB 72 changes the focus of the bill by removing the requirement for patient consent when a healthcare professional recommends off-label medical treatments. It also limits the protection from adverse actions to physicians only, rather than including other health care professionals like physician assistants and nurse practitioners. This shift simplifies the process for doctors who prescribe off-label treatments but raises concerns about ensuring patient safety and informed decision-making.
