The recent amendment to Bill SB 59 requires that all high school students in Alabama receive instruction on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) as part of their health education classes. Additionally, it specifies that this requirement will begin with the 2024-2025 school year. This change is significant because it ensures that students are trained in essential life-saving skills that could help them respond effectively in emergency situations.
