The updated version of Bill SB 50 adds specific language to clarify that government entities cannot enact rules or policies that restrict or prohibit individuals from acquiring or using appliances based solely on the type of energy they use. This change is important because it helps ensure that consumers have the freedom to choose their appliances without government intervention based on energy preferences. Essentially, it reinforces personal choice in energy use for household and commercial appliances.
