The recent changes to Bill SB 23 clarify the penalties for selling food products made from cultured animal cells in Alabama. The amendment specifically outlines that food sales establishments that violate this law could face disciplinary actions in addition to the existing penalties for individuals, which are classified as Class C misdemeanors. This distinction is important because it now holds businesses accountable, potentially enhancing enforcement of the law and protecting consumers who may not want these products sold in the state.
