What changed in the latest version

The latest version of HB 450 introduces a new tax specifically for public school funding in Autauga County, which will levy an additional tax of $0.70 on every $100 of taxable property. This tax replaces a previous proposal that included exemptions for large parcels of land without residences. The change matters because it simplifies funding for public schools by broadening the tax base without exemptions, potentially resulting in more revenue for schools in the county.
