The updated version of the bill HB 111 includes clearer definitions of sex-based terms and emphasizes the establishment of single-sex spaces by public entities. It also reinforces the requirement for public entities to categorize individuals strictly as male or female based on their sex observed at birth. These changes are important as they aim to provide consistency in how sex and gender identity are recognized under Alabama law, impacting areas like discrimination policy and access to specific services.
