The amended version of Bill HB 101 now includes specific items that qualify as reimbursable election expenses for counties in Alabama. This change adds clarity to what costs the state will cover, such as compensation and mileage for election officials, as well as training expenses for absentee election managers. This matters because it ensures counties are better supported financially in managing elections, potentially improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the electoral process.
