The amendment to Bill SB 972 changes how often the Council on Early Literacy Curricula must recommend literacy materials—now every three school years instead of each year. Additionally, the deadline for the Department of Public Instruction to submit its recommendations for approval has been shortened. This change aims to give schools more stability in their curriculum choices and reduce the frequency of updates, which can help them plan better for the long term.
