Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to Senate Bill 609 adjusts how state matching grant payments for organizations serving homeless veterans will be determined. Instead of a fixed $25 per day per veteran, the grants will now be calculated based on the actual costs incurred by the organizations, with a cap of up to $25 per day. This change allows for more flexibility and ensures that the total funding does not reduce the federal per diem amount these organizations can receive. This matters because it makes the program more responsive to the needs of organizations and veterans, potentially resulting in better care for those in need.
