Plain-language change summary

The amendment to SB 588 adds a condition that the professional development program for science teachers will only proceed if the Joint Committee on Finance approves funding by June 1, 2026. If the funding is not approved, the Department of Public Instruction will not have to follow through with the program or provide the science equipment. This change is significant because it ties the implementation of the program to the availability of funding, ensuring that resources are in place before moving forward with the initiative to enhance science education in schools.
