Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Assembly Bill 650 change how funds can be used by the Department of Workforce Development for unemployment insurance. Previously, the money allocated for drug testing could only be redirected to an integrity fund if unspent; now, it can also cover identity verification costs for claimants when federal funding isn't available. This shift matters because it broadens the financial resources available for ensuring that unemployment claims are verified, potentially reducing fraud and ensuring that legitimate claimants can access their benefits without delay.
