Plain-language change summary

The revised version of Assembly Bill 616 significantly increases the funding allocation from $1.5 million to $10 million specifically for reimbursements to municipalities to cover required hours for in-person absentee voting. This change is important because it aims to strengthen local election administration by ensuring that clerks' offices can remain open longer to accommodate voters, making it easier for people to participate in elections. More funding for these hours could lead to improved accessibility and higher voter turnout during important elections.
