The amendment to the bill changes the recipient of the grant from the African American Civil War Memorial Freedom Foundation, Inc. to the African American Civil War Museum (AACWM) itself. This shift clarifies that the funding will directly support the museum's completion and crucial renovations. By ensuring that the museum, which educates the public about the important contributions of Black and brown soldiers in the Civil War, receives this support more directly, the amendment emphasizes the urgency of the funding to complete vital improvements and fulfill a community planning recommendation.
