The bill has been amended to change the effective date for the first increase to the tipped minimum wage from January 1, 2023, to May 1, 2023. This adjustment aligns the bill with the implementation timeline after the District of Columbia Tip Credit Elimination Act was approved. This change is important because it gives affected businesses and workers more time to adjust to the new wage structure, ensuring a smoother transition for everyone involved.
