The recent update to the bill changes the effective date for housing providers to comply with the new 60-day notice requirement for rent increases, pushing it to January 1, 2024. Initially, housing providers had to start following this requirement immediately after the law took effect on November 28, 2023, which would have created a tight deadline for those planning to raise rents. This change is crucial because it gives landlords more time to adjust their practices and ensure they can inform tenants properly, preventing confusion or potential legal issues.
