The updated bill expands eligibility for services provided by the Department on Disability Services to include individuals with developmental disabilities, not just those with intellectual disabilities. This change requires the Mayor to seek federal approvals to broaden specific Medicaid waivers, which will help support more people in the community. This matters because it aims to ensure that a larger group of individuals with disabilities can access essential services and support, promoting inclusivity and better care.
