The updated version of Bill SB 271 includes the creation of the "Purple Star Public Schools Program," which is designed to support students and families connected to the military. Schools can apply for this designation by providing specialized support for military-related students, including academic and emotional assistance. This matters because it aims to recognize and ease the transition challenges faced by military families when moving to new areas, ultimately promoting a supportive educational environment for these students.
