The proposed changes to SB 200 update the definition of "teledentistry" and specify that any dental professionals—such as dentists, dental hygienists, and dental therapists—who practice teledentistry must adhere to licensure laws and can face disciplinary action if they do not. This is important because it establishes clear standards and accountability for dental care provided remotely, ensuring that patients receive quality care and that practitioners follow the same ethical and professional guidelines as in-person treatments.
