The amendment to Senate Joint Resolution 17 allows ABATE of Iowa District 4 to sell merchandise, such as t-shirts and pins, on the grounds of the state capitol complex during their annual motorcycle rally toy runs. This change is significant because it provides a way for ABATE to raise additional funds to support Iowa children, while also covering costs for necessary services like police escorts. Previously, state regulations restricted such sales without prior approval, but this amendment offers a clear path for the sales to happen. Overall, it helps enhance community support for children in need while simplifying the process for the organization.
