Plain-language change summary

The recent amendment to the Uniform Emergency Volunteer Health Practitioners Act allows qualified volunteer health practitioners and licensed health care providers to practice in D.C., regardless of whether there is an emergency declaration in place. This change extends their ability to provide care until December 31, 2021, in alignment with specific guidelines set by the Department of Health. This is important because it enables more healthcare professionals to assist in emergencies, increasing the capacity to respond to public health needs effectively.
