The amendment to HR 7150 changes the term defining the group of survivors eligible for certain services from "disability" to "dependency." Additionally, it updates the demographic data collected by removing references to "LGBTQIA+ status" and specifying that the cause of death of the veteran will also be included for covered survivors. This matters because it refines the focus on the type of survivors served and the type of demographic information collected, which can affect how services are tailored and implemented.
