The amendment to HR 2053 changes the title from the "Mining School Enhancement Act" to the "Mining Schools Enhancement Act." It also increases the percentage of funds that must be expended to enhance activities under the program from 50 percent to at least 70 percent. Additionally, the authorization of appropriations is set at $10,000,000 for each fiscal year from 2018 through 2024, clarifying the funding timeframe. This matters because it specifies both a higher funding requirement for activities and the total amount of funding allocated over several years.
