Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to Senate Bill 601 include the addition of specific provisions related to public safety dispatchers and volunteer firefighters for disability benefits. These changes clarify who qualifies for support and how long the benefits can last, which matters because it helps ensure that those serving in critical emergency roles receive proper financial assistance if they are injured and unable to work. By explicitly acknowledging the contributions of both dispatchers and volunteer firefighters, the bill aims to better protect and support all first responders in North Carolina.
