Plain-language change summary

The recent amendments to House Bill 792 include clarifying language about employer obligations and employee benefits in a program designed to reduce work hours instead of laying off workers. Specifically, the changes ensure that employers must provide a certified statement about the impact on their workforce, and they must continue to offer fringe benefits to employees whose hours are reduced. These adjustments are important because they add protections for workers while ensuring that the program is not used to benefit seasonal or part-time employers. Overall, these clarifications aim to make the bill more effective in protecting jobs during economic downturns.
