The amendment to Bill SB 111 eliminates a specific provision related to the prohibition of criminal penalties for violations of local ordinances within the 12 months prior to new alleged violations. This change means that individuals could face criminal penalties for renewed violations of local laws, even if they had not been penalized in the past year. This matters because it could increase accountability for residents who repeatedly break local rules, potentially leading to more consistent enforcement of these laws.
