In the latest version of Senate Bill 512, the number of years that commissioners serve has been clarified to six years, starting on July 1 of the year their previous term ends. Additionally, a couple of terms related to the appointment process and eligibility requirements have been adjusted for clarity. These changes are important because they help ensure that the rules surrounding commissioner appointments are clear and uniform, which can lead to more effective governance.
