This bill is no longer active — its legislative session has ended, so there is no live prognosis. It would have to be reintroduced in the current session to move again.

The recent changes to Senate Bill 306 focus on how electoral districts are created and how candidates file for elections. The amended bill emphasizes that the General Assembly will no longer participate in the process of revising electoral districts, promoting a more nonpartisan approach to this important task. This shift matters because it aims to ensure fairer representation by reducing political influence over districting, potentially leading to more equitable elections. Additionally, adjustments were made to clarify the process and requirements for candidates regarding election filing and fees, making the process more transparent.
