Plain-language change summary

The changes to House Bill 304 expand protections for city and county officials regarding the removal of personal information from public websites. Specifically, the revised bill mandates that each city create a process for officials to request the removal of their personal details, including their spouse's information, from publicly accessible sites. Additionally, the revised language clarifies that officials and employees are shielded from liability as long as they act in good faith when implementing these provisions. These updates matter because they enhance the privacy and safety of public servants, potentially encouraging more individuals to serve in these roles without fear of personal exposure.
