The recent changes to House Bill 152 clarify the requirements for how local boards of education must inform the public about school performance report cards. Specifically, the bill now emphasizes the need for wider distribution of these report cards to local press and the public, which enhances transparency regarding school performance. This matters because better public access to school performance data can help parents and communities engage more effectively in education and hold schools accountable for student outcomes.
