The recent changes to Senate Bill 221 include added lines that clarify how local governments can comply with transparency requirements when voting. The bill now explicitly states that certain laws apply to all votes of county and municipal members and reinforces the rules around public access during closed sessions. These changes are important because they aim to ensure that local governance remains accountable and transparent to the public, especially when decisions are being made behind closed doors.
