Plain-language change summary

The latest version of SB 656 has made several updates to enhance transparency and accountability within law enforcement agencies in North Carolina. Key changes include the requirement for regular reporting of citizen complaints and incidents of force by both campus police and other law enforcement officers to the State Bureau of Investigation. This matters because it aims to improve oversight and ensure that patterns of misconduct can be identified and addressed more effectively, promoting greater public trust in police practices.
