The amendment to Bill HB 616 clarifies that the State Board must make a decision about charter school applications by October 15, the year before the schools are set to open. This change aims to establish a clear timeline for charter school approvals, making it simpler for schools to plan their openings. By ensuring decisions are made in a timely manner, the amendment hopes to support better preparation for new charter schools and enhance the educational options available to families.
